Cotton is an all-natural fabric. The fibers for each individual strand are produced by plants that are harvested and processed into thread. Cotton sheets are soft and breathable, which makes it a great choice for warm season sleeping.
The Indian cotton industry provides livelihood to about 60 million people in the country. It’s no wonder that the country is the largest producer of cotton globally, with over 11.7 million hectares cultivated across India.
The main cotton producing states are Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Haryana, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Punjab and Telangana. In these states more than 80% of total cotton growing area is irrigated and rest of the area is rain-fed. The cultivation pattern is dependent on rainfall received during monsoon and irrigation facilities available in the state.
